Applicants to the Nurse Anesthesia Program are required to have a minimum of two years, recent, full-time acute care RN experience prior to applying to the program. Preferred acute care experience is obtained in a CTICU, MICU, PICU, NICU, or SICU. Emergency Department experience is only considered if obtained in a large trauma center. Post Anesthesia Care Unit experience is only considered if obtained in a unit where open heart, cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or neuro patients recover before admission to a SICU. The applicant’s critical care experience must demonstrate management of the acutely ill patient with invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilatory care, and pharmacologic intervention.
